Winter Short Story Competition
It was very hard to choose the final winner and runner up (both of whom will be published in September). All of the following stories were read by about eight members of our judging panel in the end. It wasn't an easy task as the standard was so impressive, but the winner and the runner up had clear majority votes. We are genuinely quite heartbroken that all the highly commended stories couldn't be published. Well done to all the people who entered: there were many more stories not on this list that our readers also enjoyed very much.

The First Leaf Short Story Competition
This was held in the summer of 2005 and was astonishingly successful considering it was our first ever competition: it drew an impressive number of entrants of a consistently high standard.
The winner was The Greengrocer's Apostrophe by Alexandra Fox. Runners up were The Gift by Ghislaine Goff, Mrs Thomson's Guide to Game Spotting by Fiona Thomson and Doppelganger by Simon Todd.
Every story was read by at least two members of our reading panel; the short listed stories were read by up to ten panel members. All of these stories (and a few more besisdes) have been published as Leaf Books and are available to buy from this site and from Amazon.
