Kathy Mansfield has worked most of her life in countries in Africa, going initially to Botswana as a young teacher from her home in Manchester. She has no formal training in creative writing and is experimenting with the short story form to tell tales of ordinary people caught in extraordinary moments and decisions. She is working on a themed collection – a love story in Africa, a love story to Africa. She currently spends a lot of time working in Guyana, the only English speaking country in South America, and is beginning to be inspired to write stories there.
